Today, the problem of too little sleep is as significant as ever: over 25 percent of U.S. adults say they have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep most nights, and almost 70 percent — an estimated 165 million Americans — struggle with sleep at least once a week.
Untreated insomnia can have a negative impact on quality of life and contribute to several mental health issues such as aggressiveness, memory and visual disorders, anxiety, depression, bad mood, difficulty paying attention, and fatigue.
Nearly one-third of people who complain of sleep problems at least once per week say they had used an over-the-counter or prescription sleep drug in the previous year. Unfortunately, the majority of these people don’t get the restful night’s sleep they’re looking for — only about a third of people who took sleep medications reported very good or excellent sleep on those nights. Not only are sleep medications ineffectual for many people, close to 60 percent of people taking sleep medications report side effects such as feeling forgetful, confused, or drowsy the next day.
Drugs clearly aren’t the cure-all many people expect. That has led to people seeking more natural remedies, including CBD oil and hypnosis, to help then get the consistant sleep that is so important to health.
